About the game

Hello and welcome to LANIAKEA. This is my first attempt and  "OneManProject" in making my own game. Since I've always been a big fan  of Metroidvania games (my favourites: SUPER METROID (SNES) and  CASTLEVANIA SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT (PS)) I wanted to create my idea of a  tribute to those. This project is complety build up in my sparetime and as for training in making games in UNITY.  

Current stage/goal of dev

For now I want to polish the techdemo to an alpha stage where the  most importand game mechanics will work. This will inlcude  Playerabilities, Save/Loading, etc. The techdemo/alpha is planed to be about 20% of the complete game an will end as the official "Demoversion"  later on, so will be free and playable for everybody. As development  will continue, I'll watch out for official alpha- and betatesters and  the right time, when the game reaches proper stages.  

What are METROIDVANIA Games?:

Metroidvania is a subgenre of the action-adventure video game with  gameplay concepts similar to the Metroid series and some games of the  Castlevania series. Metroidvania games generally feature a large  interconnected world map the player can explore, though access to parts  of the world is often limited by doors or other portals that can only be  opened after the player has acquired special items, tools, weapons or  abilities within the game. Acquiring such improvements can also aid the  player in defeating more difficult enemies and locating shortcuts and  secret areas, and often includes retracing one's steps across the map.  Through this, Metroidvania games include tighter integration of story  and level design, careful design of levels and character controls to  encourage exploration and experimentation, and a means for the player to  become more invested in their player character.
